Technologies negative effects on our society
In our world we use technology everyday and everywhere and we can’t imagine life without it, but why do we need technology so much? Technology does have many benefits such as allowing us to communicate with friends or our peers, technology holds together our countries economy and our country's businesses, and technology can even help us learn in some ways if its used properly. All of these things are good and our society does benefit from them, but our society can also be negatively affected by technology in these ways: Technology can take away the desire for life and our ability to be creative, technology can be used in corrupt ways if used by the wrong people and it can also be used as a distraction in schools, and lastly we wouldn’t know what to do without technology in our life.

This video shows how large of a Impact technology has on us. Millions of people go on different social media apps each day, and they become addicted, people are often on their phones all day, the average time use of social media world wide is 135 minutes per person, Teens average out to be on some sort of device 9 hours a day. In all this time people could be doing positive things such as using technology for education, or they could be doing negative things such as cyber bullying others. Cyber bullying is a example of a miss proper use of technology. When we cyber bully others we often don't realize that we are doing it, but our phone screen gives us a way to put others down while we hide.
Technology is addictive, we use technology everyday, we use it for communication with friends, we use it in school, and we use it at our jobs, but when should we not be using technology? We often find ourselves texting our friends or looking at social media post when we are with other people. We want to see what all of our peers are doing, even when we are with other friends or loved ones. It’s not just social media that’s addicting on our phones and computers, video games also lead to lots of children being addicted to ipads and phones at young ages. Video games take away time for children to go outside, be creative, and learn.

In the end of the book Fahrenheit 451 the main character, Montag, is running from the police and the mechanical hound. Montag manages to escape into a river while the police continue to search the city. The police were unable to find Montag so they killed an innocent man claiming it was Montag. The hound from Fahrenheit 451 is a example of technology that could be used for good purposes, but instead it is used to hunt down and kill criminals, or even innocent people. The hound was used to save people's reputations who don’t deserve those reputations.

Some of the negatives are: students can use their devices to cheat, students can look up or share answers, students can find websites that will do the work for them, technology makes it hard for students to pay attention,Phones or Chromebooks provide easy access to online games.

Technology takes away our ability to ingage in a real conversation.
We wouldn’t know what to do without technology in our life. Our phones and our computers are often our defalt in life we fall back on them whenever we have nothing to do. Do we really need to look at our phone every five minutes though? We don’t need to see if our friend posted something about their vacation.
People are often seen walking around with their phones in their hands, and most people say they do this because it provides some sort of comfort and satisfaction, but when someone asks you a question and you have a phone in your hand it is a sign of disrespect, it is the equivalent of saying you don’t have my direct attention.

Overall while technology does have its benefits it has lot of negative affects on our society. When used wrongly technology can make people depressed, it can affect people's ability to be creative, it can be used improperly as a tool in things such as cyberbullying, and it can be used to censor people's ideas. I’m not saying technology is overall terrible, but we as humans should try to limit our time on our phones because we honestly waste lots of time on our phones, and we all can admit to that. I would like to encourage you to try to limit your time on your phone or computer screen and see what positive effects it has on your life.
